Photoshop handy tips

Photoshop is almost the most commonly used software for our daily life or for pre-press production. Due to my work relationship, Photoshop is a must-have software every day, and I have constantly explored some experiences and tips from practice. Now I will introduce it to you, hoping to inspire readers.

1. When you want to change the spacing between two characters, place the cursor between the two characters and use alt + lift or alt + right to change the spacing between the two characters. When you want to change the character spacing of several characters, just select the character and use the left and right direction keys while holding down ctrl and alt to change the character spacing.

2. Use the shortcut keys to quickly browse the big picture: home, scroll to the upper left corner of the picture; end, scroll to the lower right corner of the picture; pageup, scroll to the top of the image; pagedown, scroll to the top of the image Bottom; ctrl + pageup, scroll to the far left of the picture; ctrl plus pagedown, scroll to the far right of the image.

3. To move the current layer up, use ctrl +] to raise the current layer one layer; press Ctrl + [to move the current layer down.

4. There are two ways to convert a color image into a grayscale image. One is to directly convert the RGB mode to grayscale, and the other is to convert RGB to LAB, and then throw away the A and B channels. Only the brightness channel is kept; practice has proved that the latter has a more delicate performance on the dark tone part of the image and less loss of dark tone information.

5. When you need to adjust the tone or contrast of the image, first convert the image with only an independent layer into a 16-bit channel, then adjust it, and then convert it back to an 8-bit channel after the adjustment, so that the image can be converted The loss of information is reduced to a minimum, and the effect obtained is much better than direct adjustment.

6. When the pattern to be cut out is very complex or has a very messy background, you can consider using the extraction in the filter. Setting the closed image, fill and response in the dialog box will make the cutout pattern very accurate. After making sure to use the history tool to make appropriate adjustments, you will get an ideal independent picture. This way can even help We squinted a fluffy kitten on the grass.

7. To use the newly used filter again, select Filter → Last Filter [Ctrl + F] from the menu; use the new option to use the newly used filter and remember to add an Alt key (Ctrl + Alt + F or Alt + Filter → Last Filter).

Tip: To exit the last filter or adjustment effect (or change the synthesis mode), press Ctrl + Shift + F (Filter → Fade Filter ...).

8. If you recently copied a picture and stored it in the clipboard, Photoshop will use the size of the picture in the clipboard as the default size of the new picture when creating a new file [Ctrl + N] (File → New ...). To bypass this feature and use the last setting, hold down the Alt key [Ctrl + Alt + N] (Alt + File → New ...) when opening.

9. Press the Ctrl + Alt + Z and Ctrl + Shift + Z key combinations to move backward and forward in the history (or you can use the menus in the history panel to use these commands). Use these hotkeys in conjunction with the [Ctrl + Z] (Edit → Undo) command to freely switch between history and current status.

10. The Alt + Backspace and Ctrl + Backspace key combination is to fill the foreground and background colors respectively. Another very useful hotkey is Shift + Backspace ?? to open the Fill dialog box.

Tip: Press Alt + Shift + Backspace and Ctrl + Shift + Backspace to fill only the existing pixels (keep the transparent area) when filling the foreground and background colors.

11. When using the free transform tool [Ctrl + T] (Edit → Free Transform), hold down the Alt key (Ctrl + Alt + T or Alt + Edit → Free Transform) to copy the original layer first (in the current selection) Then transform on the duplicate layer.

Tip: Ctrl + Shift + T (Edit → Transform → Again) is to perform the last transformation again, and Ctrl + Alt + Shift + T (Alt + Edit → Transform → Again) is to copy the original image and then perform the transformation.

12. To prevent the selection box from attracting to the picture frame when using the cutting tool [C] (Crop Tool), hold down the Ctrl key while dragging the control point on the selection box of the cutting tool.

13. To correct the tilted image, first use the measuring tool [U] to draw a line (like the border of the image, the door frame, the horizontal line between the eyes, etc.) on the map that can be used as a horizontal or vertical reference, and then from the menu Choose Image → Rotate Canvas → Arbitrary. After opening, you will find that the correct rotation angle has been automatically filled out. Just press OK to OK.

Note: You can also use the cutting tool to complete the rotation and cutting in one step: first use the cutting tool [C] to draw a box, drag the control point on the selection box to adjust the angle and size of the selection box, and finally press Enter to rotate and cut.

Tip: The angle measured by the measurement tool will also be automatically filled in the dialog box of the digital transformation tool (Edt → Transform → Numeric).

14. Use the "Create a new layer by copying [Ctrl + J] (Layer → New → Layer Via Copy)" or "Create a new layer by cutting [Ctrl + J] (Layer → New → Layer Via Cut)" command in one step. Complete the work of copy & paste and cut & paste.

Note: When copying (cutting) the new layer command, it will still be placed in their original places when pasting, however, copying (cutting) & pasting will paste to the center of the picture (or selection).

15. After cropping the image (using the crop tool or selecting Edit → Crop), all pixels outside the cropping range are lost. To crop without loss, use the "Canvas Size (Image → Canvas Size)" command instead. Although Photoshop will warn you that some cuts will be made, for some reason, in fact, not all of the "cut out" data is kept outside the screen.

Tip: ImageReady's cut command (Image → Crop) will ask whether to delete the cut area or hide it.

Note: This has no effect on the index color mode (using the canvas size command in index mode will lose pixels outside the screen).

16. Hold down the Alt key [Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E] (Alt + Layer → Merge Visible) when merging visible layers to merge all visible layers into the current layer.

Tip: You can also hold down the Alt key when merging layers (Layer → Merge Down), and the current layer will be copied and merged to the previous layer. There is no corresponding hotkey for this command ?? Ctrl + Alt + E does not work.

17. When using the Marquee Tools [M] (Marquee Tools), hold down the Shift key to draw square and perfect circle selection; hold down the Alt key to draw the selection area from the starting point as the center.

18. Use the "Reselect" command [Ctrl + Shift + D] (Select → Reselect) to load / restore the previous selection.

19. When using the lasso tool to draw a selection, press the Alt key to switch between the lasso tool and the polygonal lasso tool.

20. When drawing a selection, hold down the space bar to move the selection.

21. It is well known that holding down the Shift or Alt key can increase or trim the current selection, but do you know that pressing the Shift and Alt keys simultaneously can select the intersection of the two selections?

Tip: Hold down the Ctrl key and click the layer icon (on the layer board) to load its transparent channel. Then hold down the Ctrl + Alt + Shift keys and click another layer to select the area where the two layers of transparent channels intersect.

22. Switch to quick mask mode [Q] between zooming or copying pictures to keep the original selection.

23. Hold down the Alt key while dragging the auxiliary line to switch between the horizontal auxiliary line and the vertical auxiliary line. Hold down the Alt key and click on an existing vertical guide to turn it into a horizontal guide, and vice versa.

Note: The auxiliary line is created by dragging out of the ruler, so make sure the ruler is open [Ctrl + R] (View → Show Rulers).

24. Hold down the Shift key while dragging the guide line to force it to align to the scale on the ruler.

25. Double-click the auxiliary line to open the auxiliary line & style parameter setting dialog [Ctrl + K, Ctrl + 6] (File → Preferences → Guides & Grid ...).

26. Double-click the ruler [Ctrl + R] to open the unit & ruler parameter setting dialog [Ctrl + K, Ctrl + 5] (File → Preferences → Units & Rulers ...).

Tip: You can also select the scale unit in the options menu on the information panel.

27. The coordinate origin of the ruler can be set anywhere on the canvas. Just drag from the upper left corner of the ruler to apply the new coordinate origin; double-click the upper left corner to restore the coordinate origin to the default point.

28. Using the path tool to create curve and diagonal auxiliary lines is also a good way. As long as the path is drawn with the pen tool, it can be used as a guideline when drawing or painting (the path always remains visible).

Tip: Use the hidden path command [Ctrl + Shift + H] (View → Hide Path) to switch the path display or not.

29. Auxiliary lines will not only be attracted to the edges (up, down, left, and right) of the current layer or selection, but also will be aligned with the horizontal or vertical center (of the current layer or selection). The reverse is also true: the same selections and layers will also be attached to the existing auxiliary lines (edge ​​and center).

Note: The auxiliary line will not be attached to the background layer. And to achieve the above function, you must first open the "close auxiliary line" [Ctrl + Shift +;] (View → Snap To Guides) option.

Tip: To find the center of the screen, you can create a new one and [Ctrl + Shift + N] (Layer → New Layer ...) and fill it with [Shift + Backspace] (Edit → Fill ...) a layer and then attach the auxiliary line to the vertical Center and level center.

30. To draw a straight line using the brush tool, first click on the picture, then move the mouse to another point and hold down Shift to click the picture again, Photoshop will use the current drawing tool to draw a straight line between the two points.

31. At any time, hold down the Ctrl key to switch to the mobile tool [V], hold down the Ctrl + Alt key and drag the mouse to copy the content of the current layer or selection.

32. Press and hold the space bar to switch to the hand tool [H] (Hand Tool) at any time.

33. The shortcut key of the zoom tool is "Z", in addition, Ctrl + space bar is the zoom-in tool, and Alt + space key is the zoom-out tool.

34. Press Ctrl + “+” key and “-” key to zoom in and zoom out the image respectively; correspondingly, press Alt key while holding the above hot key to automatically adjust the window to display on the full screen (Ctrl + Alt + “+ "And Ctrl + Alt +"-"), this is very useful!

Note: If you want to automatically adjust the window according to the size of the picture when using the zoom tool, you can select the "Resize Windows to Fit" option in the zoom tool options.

35. Hold down the Alt key when selecting colors with the eyedropper tool to define the current background color.

36. Combined with the color sampler tool [Shift + I] (Color Sampler Tool) and the information panel (Window → Show Info), we can monitor the color change of the current picture. The color values ​​before and after the change are displayed next to the sampling point number on the information panel. The color mode of the sampling point can be defined through the pop-up menu on the information panel. To add a new sampling point, simply click anywhere on the canvas (using the color sampler tool), hold down the Alt key and click to remove the sampling point.

Note: Only four color sampling points can be placed on a picture

Tip: When a dialog box (for example: level command, curve command, etc.) pops up in Photoshop, to add a new sampling point, you must hold down the Shift key and then click. Hold Alt + Shift and click on a sampling point to subtract it .

37. The Measure Tool is very convenient in measuring distances (especially on diagonal lines). You can also use it to measure angles (just like a protractor). First, make sure that the information panel [F8] (Window → Show Info) is visible. Select the measurement tool, click and drag a line, hold down the Alt key and drag the second line from the node of the first line, so that the angle between the two lines and the length of the line are displayed on the information panel.

Note: You can move the measurement line by dragging with the measurement tool (you can also move only one node of the measurement line), and drag the measurement line outside the canvas to delete it.

38. You may know that pressing the Tab key can hide the toolbox and floating panel. Similarly, pressing the Shift + Tab key can only hide the floating panel (while keeping the toolbar visible).

39. Hold down the Shift key and click on the title bar of the floating panel (the blue bar at the top) to attract it to the edge of the nearest screen.

40. Double-click each column on the floating panel (the one with the title) to minimize it. The minimize button on the floating panel can be switched between compact mode (only minimal options and content are visible) and normal mode (display all options and content on the panel).

41. You can open the option panel of the current tool by pressing the Enter key (or double-clicking the tool button on the toolbox). Otherwise, it can only be opened through the Window → Show Options command on the menu.

42. Use the scaling area (in the lower left corner of the Photoshop form or navigator panel) to quickly select an accurate display scale. When you enter a value, press Shift + Enter to keep the cursor in the scaling area.

43. To change the display information of the status bar (at the bottom of the window, the default display file size can be opened by Window → Show Status Bar), press the button on the status bar to select a new item from the pop-up menu. Click the left area of ​​the button on the status bar to display the print size of the current file, hold Alt to display the file size and resolution, and hold down Ctrl to display the collage information.

44. Tired of gray canvas background? Select the paint bucket tool [K] (Paint Bucket), hold down Shift and click the edge of the canvas to set the canvas background color to the current foreground color.

Note: To revert to the default color, set the foreground color to 25% grayscale (R192, G192, B192) and hold down Shift again and click on the edge of the canvas.

45. The Cancel button in all dialog boxes in Photoshop can be changed to the Reset button by holding down the Alt key. This allows you to easily return to the initial value without having to cancel the re-start.

46. ​​The CapsLock key on the keyboard can control the cursor to switch between the precise state and the standard state.

Note: If the Photoshop parameter [Ctrl + K, Ctrl + 3] (File → Preferences → Display & Cursors ...) has set the cursor to the precise state, then the CapsLock key will not work.
