From January 1 this year, the European Union has explicitly banned the use of expanded polystyrene (EPS) as a packaging material to enter the EU countries; South Korea also decided to ban the use of plastic shopping bags and disposable plastic tableware products from June 30 this year.
Polylactic acid is a new type of degradable plastic that is made of corn, a fast-growing resource, as the main raw material, obtained by fermentation, and then chemically polymerized. It has good biocompatibility and biodegradability, and various products made of it. It is buried in the soil for 6 to 12 months to complete the automatic degradation, so the research and development of this product is highly valued by the United States, Germany, France and other countries.
As early as 1998, the Haizheng Group in Taizhou learned that it was developing and producing PLA abroad. They immediately contacted the Chinese Academy of Sciences and other relevant scientific research institutes, and transferred strength to form a scientific research group within the company to start research. In September 2002, Dongcheng District and Yantou two new districts with an area of ​​500,000 square meters were successively completed. The research and development of Hisun PLA has also made breakthrough progress. At present, the company has mastered key technologies such as fermentation, extraction, and polymerization of lactic acid that are in the leading position in China, and fully embodies the requirements for environmental protection and clean production in process design. The project passed the provincial technical appraisal in December last year.
