According to India's standard business report, Indian Tobacco, the tobacco and hotel giant, launched a new multi-functional "green paper" that does not emit toxic waste water to the environment during the manufacturing process, adding luster to its green activities.
This "good quality business kraft paper" is made using elemental chlorine technology processed by innovative ozone technology developed by Metso, Switzerland. A spokesman for the Indian Tobacco Company stated that "Technology is developed for India's raw materials and the Indian Tobacco Company."
“This unique product is an integral part of India Tobacco’s activities to increase natural and scarce resources and is in line with the company’s commitment to contribute to the nation’s economic, environmental and social capital,†said the company’s spokesperson.
Kraft paper is made by a process that eliminates the release of chlorine, which is an unavoidable byproduct of the traditional papermaking process and is the most serious source of water pollution and soil contamination.
The company claims that kraft paper is "the whitest and brightest 75GSM business paper produced in India and has a high shelf life."
Indian Tobacco, which owns the notebook of the best-selling stationery brand “Classmates†on the market, will launch “green paper†products through the Education and Stationery Products Business Unit.
The Indian Tobacco Company claims to be the only company in the world to achieve milestone progress in reducing carbon emissions, protecting water resources, and recovering wastewater close to 100%.
In addition, during the paper production process, the company was the first company in India to adopt elemental chlorine technology, and it now exceeds all the emission standards stipulated by government regulations.
